Beautiful Skin Muesli

Nutrients for Skin Health

By | Food for thought, Tips | No Comments

The perfect ingredients to add for beautiful skin, hair and nails.

Ladies, this one may be more for you then your gentleman counterparts – although we all love a man who takes care of themselves, right!?

There are many things we can do to help our skin look and feel amazing, keeping stress to a minimum, adhering to a gentle daily cleansing routine but probably the most effective and efficient is loading our bodies with the right nutrients, be it solely through food or with the help of some supplementation where needed.

Starting the day with a healthy nutritious breakfast has been proven to decrease your chances of over eating throughout the day.  Filling the rest of your day with a variety of whole foods will help ensure your body is receiving the nutrients required to help give your skin a gorgeous glow, leave your hair feeling soft, shiny and your nails strong.

When creating a muesli that will your skin will thank you for, start with a oaty base such as Superfoods which contains wholegrain oats, buckwheat, LSA, quinoa flakes and puffed amaranth then add in some or all of the following:

Raw Walnuts & Almonds – Contains high levels of protein and omega-3 fatty acids

Coconut & Blueberries – Contains a mix of healthy fats and powerful antioxidants

Pumpkin seeds & Linseeds – Rich in omega-3 fatty acids, Vitamin E, Zinc and Magnesium minerals like zinc & magnesium, plus a good dose of friendly fibre.

Warm Bircher Muesli

Warm muesli hits the spot this Winter

By | Tips | No Comments

The Muesli Hub loves Winter!

Warm layers of clothes during the day, flannelette sheets and jamas in the evenings, the satisfying crackling of a fiercely raging fireplace …. despite its bad rep, we absolute love winter.  #itsthesimplethings

If your looking for a way to make your morning breakfast a little warmer, try our Apple and Walnut Bircher together with this little tip.

Bring your preferred milk  (we love rice milk!) to the boil in a saucepan, add your muesli then turn the heat down and cook for 4-5 minutes.  A touch of cinnamon along with some grated apple would send this delightful aroma singing throughout the house – what a beautiful way to activate the senses on a winters morning.  Let us know how you get started on a winters morning.

why we love breakfast

Why we love breakfast!

Us + Breakfast = Love

Making time for breakfast is a simple (sometimes we laugh at this statement when you have a 3 year old clinging on to your leg), BUT a very significant step towards good health. A nutritious breakfast means a good start to the day!  It’s an easy way to improve your daily diet and to make sure that you get the right nutrition at the start of every morning.

It can also help prevent or delay mid-morning snacking which might not be so healthy (think cookies, chocolate, and those sugar filled bars – we too are sometimes guilty of this!) And a happy belly full of the good stuff can improve early morning concentration levels. What’s more, isn’t it simply relaxing and pleasurable to sit down at the breakfast table and enjoy the first meal of the day with a piping hot cuppa?

If your a person who struggles to get their brain working in the morning let-alone your breakfast sussed, set your alarm half an hour early, have your muesli mix ready (crafted by you of course!) make sure the jug is topped up for your morning coffee and MAKE it a priority to use this time to start the day off on the right foot, whether it be meditating, reading a book, or simply cranking your favourite tunes to get a smile on your dial before you rush out the door!

We are HUGE advocates for self love and looking after yourself and it’s a passion of mine to get more men and women becoming aware of how a positive healthy start to the morning can impact the rest of their day, even week! Would LOVE to know how you start your mornings off.. Leave me a comment below! 🙂
